On another #whiskeyventure and this time ended up in Raleigh, NC visiting my brother and decided to do a flash review at Josh’s Power Wheels Chop Shop. Since I was on his home turf I thought it would be a good idea to pick up a local bottle and so Lonerider Sherry Cask finished it was, being from Durham, so why not. It did come with a bonus sidecar of their Deadwood Finished bourbon(in stout casks). The nose was interesting, sweet and cherry while Josh could smell the alcohol. On the palate, the flavors showed up bringing more fruity notes, smooth well rounded. I was impressed. Then onto the Deadwood and to me is more on the run of the mill side. Like Josh put it, “more generic”. In the end we were split, where I would opt for the Sherry Cask finished and Josh would take the Deadwood. To finish up the night we brought out the cigars which I took the Arturo Fuente and Josh kept the Drew Estate Acid Kuba Kuba for himself. We had a great time talking about squirrels, swirlys and people that drink seltzers.
Kris gave it a 8 and the Deadwood got a 5
Josh was undecided
How much: a bottle of Lonerider Sherry Cask Finished will run you about 40.00 dollars
